| Harvest Time in Silwanetshe |
|
|
Willowfontein is no different to all other areas, but with the effort put into it and perseverance, Silwanetshe communal garden has managed to get through those challenges until several harvest has been achieved. Although this is the first of its kind in this year, but from now on it will manage to make few harvest up to the end of the year. This is because of a collective effort and dedication of homecare and food garden volunteers in the area.
The harvest first phase took place on the 10th July 2009, and lot of households benefited from this harvest. The harvest is now happening every two weeks with a rotation of families, if possible we would involve other areas like Khuzwayo and Bulwer if water availability is not a problem anymore.
The harvest packs consist of cabbage, spinach and beetroot. |

In many cases when one has to introduce an agricultural project in an area, that initiative is likely to be characterized with lack of ownership and employment mentality.
